- Information about your vehicle, including make, model and year
- Payment method for the replacement fee
- Complete your application form—Visit the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) website or your local tax collector’s office to obtain a copy of the Application for Duplicate or Lost in Transit/Reassignment for a Motor Vehicle, Mobile Home or Vessel Title (form HSMV 82101). Fill out the form accurately and legibly.

- Receive your duplicate title—Once you submit all the necessary paperwork and pay the replacement fee, your duplicate title will be processed. You may receive your duplicate title on the spot, although it may sometimes take a few days if you have a complex situation or a lienholder is involved.
After receiving your new vehicle title, you should ensure you don’t need to repeat this process. Keep your document safe by storing it in a secure place, such as a fireproof safe or safety deposit box.
